Machupicchu full day
The beautiful Inca citadel was constructed in the 15th century by the Inca Pachacutec. This impressive archeological monment was considered a royal estate intended for worship and was constructed as a refuge for the most select of Incan aristocracy. A true challenge to the skills of the builders of the day to say the least. Since 2007 it has been considered one of the 7 wonders of the modern world and at an elevation of 2430 in the Urubamba River Valley a visit here will be an unforgettable experience beyond your wildest imagination.
We pick you up at your hotel at 3:00AM and take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. At 5:30 AM we board the train you have elected to take you to the majestic sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
(There is another option where we pick you up at 6AM and take you to Poroy where the train departs at 6:45AM.)
During the trip you will enjoy the stunning beauty of the Interandean valleys until we arrive at village Machu Picchu, better known as “Agua Calientes”(Warm Waters….a site of natural warm springs). From Agua Calientes we board a bus for the steep climb to the base of Machu Picchu. (You can hike up the mountain to Machu Picchu if you prefer but you must be aware of time constraints on a 1-day visit) After check-in with the local authorities you and your guide will enter the complex and begin your tour.
Inside this wonderful archeological complex your guide will take you to the following places, among others:
- The Temple of the Sun. Here you will see the principal structures.
