Salkantay Trek 5D/4N

This trip is a complete expedition hike, a perfect alternative for those who could not book the Inca Trail. Natural attractions adventure tour through the Andean highlands, crossing a road as high as 4,600mt, there will be snow-capped mountains as Humantay and Salkantay. It is the Inca Trail that extends from the lower parts of snow-capped summits, cross major rivers, entering the valley region of Santa Teresa, with lush tropical vegetation, until we reach our final destination: Machu Picchu …


Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata -Salcantaypampa

In the morning we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and take you on a journey of approximately two hours to Mollepata and continue to Challacancha, a place with magnificent landscapes of valleys and mountains. From here we begin our hike up to Soraypampa (3800m), continuing to our camp at Salcantaypampa (4,100mt), located at the foot of the mountain Tucarhuay.

Day 2: Salcantaypampa- Salkantay pass – Collpapampa

In the morning we will walk through the most difficult part of the trek, the highest point, to the Salkantaypass (4,600mt). Then we begin our descent observing farms, the flame and the typical Andean flora. Finally we come to our next camp (3,200mt).

Day 3: Collpapampa- Wiñaypoco – La Playa – Santa Teresa

After breakfast we will descend through a dense forest, where we will see beautiful vegetation and large waterfalls. We will also share experiens with the locals in the area, known as La Playa (2,100mt), where we will stop for lunch. After that we will take the shuttle to Santa Teresa, where we can enjoy a bath in the hot springs.

Day 4: La Playa – Llactapata – Machu Picchu Pueblo

This morning we will take the shuttle to the Hydroelectric Station (1,950mt). From here we will walk to the village of Machu Picchu (2,050mt / 6,726ft), along the Urubamba river, enjoying the beautiful vegetation and you can see a magical part of the citadel. We will arrive in the afternoon and check into our accommodation.

Day 5: Village of Machu Picchu – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Early in the morning we board the bus to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and enjoy a guided tour of the great professional standing Machu Picchu (2,400mt). See the extraordinary Sun Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, that has huge trapezoidal windows and more. Then we return by bus to Machu Picchu village for lunch (on your own), before boarding the train to Poroy. You will met our personal at the train station and get a private transfer to your hotel in Cusco.



Go to the entrance of Huayna Picchu to climb a narrow path up to the top. You will have splendid views of Machu Picchu and the valley below (additional cost).
